MAEVEN (pronounced: may-ven) is a Brooklyn-based online shop with a collection of vintage, one-of-a-kind and preowned designer clothing. We handpick inspired, timeless pieces, paying special attention to ensure that they are always of the highest quality. All of our inventory has been carefully cleaned and meticulously restored prior to being added to the shop.
An outgrowth of founder Amy Yee's obsessions with vintage clothing, art and photography, Maeven was born in early 2012. For the previous 12 years, Amy has been wearing, collecting and selling vintage clothing on eBay and Etsy. After being named one of NYC’s best Etsy shops by Refinery29, and realizing she could provide a better shopping experience for her customers, she decided it was time to launch her own store.
Being a vintage dealer wasn’t always part of the plan. Born and raised in Chicago, Amy moved to New York for college, earning a degree in painting from Fordham University. After college, she spent years working in galleries and as a freelance designer, simultaneously collecting, repairing and reselling vintage clothing. The same attractions to colors, textures, and satisfaction of working with her hands that she’d first found in painting were readily present in sourcing, repairing, styling and photographing vintage clothing.
Maeven is based out of a studio in the original No. 2 Pencil factory in Greenpoint. A Brooklyner almost 10 years, Amy lives just 5 blocks from the studio with her husband and their French Canadian tuxedo cat, Yoko.
